CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Conflicts are a large part of society. They can cause terrible things to happen in our world. A way to stop conflicts is to educate others on how to resolve one. A model I found was on this website http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newLDR_81.htm.

"Interest-Based Relational (IBR) Approach"
The website says while in a conflict follow these rules.

1. Make sure that good relationships are the first priority:
-Do your best to act calmly and respectful to the other person. If they make you upset calm yourself.

2. Keep people and problems separate:
-Just think that the person is having a bad day or being difficult today. Seperete the problem from the actual person itself.

3. Pay attention to the interests that are being presented:
-This is mostlt listening to the other person well.

4. Listen first; talk second:
- By doing this you know where the other person is coming from and have a better understanding on how to deal.

5. Set out the “Facts”:
-Agree and etablish an objective.

6. Explore options together:
-Explore ways to handle your problem together.

Here is more infromation to it.

Step One: Set the Scene
Step Two: Gather Information
Step Three: Agree the Problem
Step Four: Brainstorm Possible Solutions
Step Five: Negotiate a Solution
