"Industrial agriculture is a form of modern farming that refers to the industrialized production of livestock, poultry, fish, and crops. The methods of industrial agriculture are technoscientific, economic, and political. They include innovation in agricultural machinery and farming methods, genetic technology, techniques for achieving economies of scale in production, the creation of new markets for consumption, the application of patent protection to genetic information, and global trade. These methods are widespread in developed nations and increasingly prevalent worldwide. Most of the meat, dairy, eggs, fruits, and vegetables available in supermarkets are produced using these methods of industrial agriculture." (Wikkipedia Definition)
As you can see Industrial farming is the new way that farming is doing now. In these industrial farms, the farm is ran by the goverment. The animals are not fed grass or anything natural. Animals are kept in large numbers, and are expected so have a certain number or products. This is all done over a certain amount of time.
The negatives of industrial farming is what it does to people. Many people get sick. The food is not natural and it is all controeleld basically by the goverment.

SOY
In my opinion, I think soy is very healthy compared to regular food. Yet, I do think there are more negatives to soy then positives.
SOY POSITIVES
Soy is being distribused to many of our nations products. It is said to promise a healthy lifestyle and maybe even a weight loss. Some positivies I found about soy have a lot to do with vegitareian diets. Example is that soy has non-animal protein. Which many vegitarians find great to their diet. Soy has little fat which helps with a lot with many problems in health in america.
Here is a list of soy foods.....
Soy Protein
Soybeans (canned and dry)
Soymilk (Soy Milk), Fortified
Soy Beverages
Soy Dairy Free Frozen Desserts
Soy Meat Alternatives
Soy Nut Butter
Soy Oil
Soy Pasta
Soy Tempeh
Soy Tofu
Textured Soy Protein
Negatives of Soy Products
There are said to be many negatives in soy products. In recent studies soy has been linked to thyroid cancer. "For Daniel, the problem exists in the soybean itself, a legume that by nature is chock full of antinutrients and toxins to ward off predators. If eaten in small amounts (say, a few tablespoons every couple of days) these toxins pose no real harm. The trouble occurs when we consume more than 35 grams of soy a day -- a quantity Daniel argues is easily reachable in our modern diet so crammed with soy meats, soy extenders, soy protein and soy emulsifiers, substances so full of estrogens, metals, sugars and additives, so "toxic," that they are posing considerable risks to our collective physical and mental health. " - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/08/13/CMGJKK1BP31.DTL This article goes on to say that soy has been making people ill.
My Opinion
My thoughts are that soy is fine. As long as you don't go up and eat a ton of soy bean you should be fine. Soy is low in fat and healthy. I personally think that people are saying it's negative because they are so paranoid themselves. Soy is healthy and I will continue to not worry and enjoy it:)!

CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Conflicts are a large part of society. They can cause terrible things to happen in our world. A way to stop conflicts is to educate others on how to resolve one. A model I found was on this website http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newLDR_81.htm.
"Interest-Based Relational (IBR) Approach"
The website says while in a conflict follow these rules.
1. Make sure that good relationships are the first priority:
-Do your best to act calmly and respectful to the other person. If they make you upset calm yourself.
2. Keep people and problems separate:
-Just think that the person is having a bad day or being difficult today. Seperete the problem from the actual person itself.
3. Pay attention to the interests that are being presented:
-This is mostlt listening to the other person well.
4. Listen first; talk second:
- By doing this you know where the other person is coming from and have a better understanding on how to deal.
5. Set out the “Facts”:
-Agree and etablish an objective.
6. Explore options together:
-Explore ways to handle your problem together.
Here is more infromation to it.
Step One: Set the Scene
Step Two: Gather Information
Step Three: Agree the Problem
Step Four: Brainstorm Possible Solutions
Step Five: Negotiate a Solution

Descision Making Models
Everyday people must make descisions. They can be large or small. They can have great impace or none. A model we learned in class is the G.R.E.A.T descision model. The G.R.E.A.T decision making model lets you think about your decisions before you act on them. The G.R.E.A.T decisions making models has a step by step process including GIVING thought to the problem, REVIEWING your choices, EVALUATING the consequences of each choice, ASSESSING and choosing the best choice, and THINKING it over afterward.
Another type of model is the PLUS decsision nmaking model. This model was used on studies throughout time. Many have said it is the most efficient.
The model outline is...
Step 1: Define the problem
Step 2: Identify available alternative solutions to the problem
Step 3: Evaluate the identified alternatives
Step 4: Make the decision
Step 5: Implement the decision
Step 6: Evaluate the decision
A third decsision making model is the Rational Model. This model is popular and commonly used decision making tool. This process involves thinking through and weighing alternatives where each step follows a logical order.
This is the model outline,
*Define the situation/decision to be made
*Identify the important criteria for the process and the result
*Consider all possible solutions
*Calculate the consequences of these solutions versus the likelihood of satisfying the criteria
*Choose the best option
In my opinion the PLUS model is the most to do with GREAT because of its similarities with steps. The best model would probaly be the GREAT one because of it's great challenges and self help.
